| Times you have completed the marathon at Brisbane? | In Brisbane - This year will be my 2nd. The first was last year. This year's Brisbane will be my 16th race in Australia. |
| Any tips for those competing |
I am not a competitive runner, let the kenyans take 'poll positions'. I am here to have fun. Running comes from 'the heart and mind and not the legs'... just be positive and have fun along the way...finishing the race will be easy. Before I forget, do not forget to thank all the volunteers and cheer groups along the way - as without them, the marathon will not be an event. |
| What does your training involve | I run twice a week with a program called 'the i-run' in Singapore. It is organised by the Health Promotion Board. The program is for the people who work in the city, many of whom need 'a little encouragement'. On weekends, if I am not running races, I run up to about 30 kms, either road or trail runs - usually in Singapore or Malaysia. |
| What is your inspiration at Brisbane | This year's brisbane marathon would be (hopefully), my 131st, and my 16th in Australia. When I ran the Shanghai Marathon in 2008, I met a lovely Australian runner doing her first marathon - Ms Annie Vavryn. We have become good friends since. At last year's Brisbane Marathon, Annie paced me for my 100th. With Annie's participation, and with the special appearance of Greatest Job in teh World Winner; Ben Southall, it made the Brisbane Running Festival so much fun. I had immediately signed a pact with annie - that we will run the Brisbane Marathon in 2011 together as well! Brisbane is such a beautiful city, and the weather in august is ideal for a marathon. The Brisbane Running Festival is a very well organised 'Boutique' Marathon - certainly one not to be missed! |
| Anything else you want others to know | Come, have fun, encourage other runners and be envouraged yourself. Runners make the world a better place! I run with a camera, taking photographs along the way - (remember i am a tourist, sightseeing 42k on foot ) - and post my photos on Facebook (mohan marathon) to share with my friends. |
